Knowledge = Power
Folks, as I mentioned yesterday, I went out to Las Vegas to attend The Money Show. It was a great time. I’m always happy to see a few thousand people congregate to learn more about the financial services industry that used to be such a mystery.
I talked to a lot of people while I was out there, and the one question I kept getting over and over was whether the story of commodities was over—whether the Growthflation scenario I’ve been talking about was losing steam. Let me make this very clear: the story is not over! Crude is off a bit as the fear premium has come out of oil. The dollar has gained some strength now that Greece has turned out not to be as big a problem as we worried it would be. We’re no longer seeing panic buying into metals. Inflationary pressure hasn’t ended, but the velocity of inflation has slowed to a much less frightening level. I’m more bullish now than I was a month ago!
Two things in particular are making me bullish:
- The low cost of money. QE2 has created a low-interest-rate environment. Low rates have forced money into risk assets, specifically stocks and commodities.
- Corporations are putting money to work. Microsoft announced a multi-billion-dollar deal to acquire Skype. GM announced it will invest billions in plants and infrastructure. And that’s just this week!
Barring some sort of black swan event, we are on the brink of something that is going to last well into the future. I want you to participate!
But folks, when I say I want you to participate, I want you to participate in the right way. I strive to be a good steward of information, but you need to get out and educate yourself. I’ve been in the markets going on 28 years and I still need a coach. It’s not brain surgery, but it does take discipline. It takes time to learn what you’re doing and to look for the right things.
I mentioned it the other day here on The Trading Jacket and we’ve been talking about it on The Jack B. Show as well, but OptionsXpress is hosting FREE education workshop in Charlotte on Saturday, May 14. If you’re not in Charlotte, don’t worry! The entire event will be simulcast live on the web. Don’t miss this terrific opportunity!
I’ll be presenting a seminar about the advantages of futures over ETFs. So many people are trading these popular products, but so many of them don’t understand the composition of what they’re trading. They’re an inefficient product, folks! This is important stuff that you need to know! Thanks to OX, we’re able to present it to you for FREE!
I strongly encourage you REGISTER NOW for Saturday’s event or live simulcast and take the first step toward properly educating yourselves. See what I have to show you on the charts. Learn how futures and options complete the circle of financial life. See how constructive hedges are made and what you need to do to properly protect your investments. I get a great sense of satisfaction sharing my years of knowledge with you. Knowledge is power, folks— a little intellectual enlightenment can go a long way!
